Dr. Matthew Mintz

I am an Internal Medicine Physician in practice for 27 years, and have started several direct primary care practices and direct specialty services. I enjoy helping other physicians start their own practices and achieve their goals as I have done.

My Story

I had a successful 20 year academic career before leaving to start my own Direct Primary Care (DPC) practice.  I loved my job, which allowed me to teach students and see patients,  but (in addition to a long commute) it did not provide a salary that would allow me to support my family.  When I told my boss I was leaving after my first 10 years, he offered me the opportunity to set up a concierge practice within the academic practice, which I did, as well as taking over the existing executive physical clinic and eventually adding international medicine. What I learned at that time was the value of having time to spend with your patients.  My concierge academic clinic worked well for about 10 years, but without a change in salary after my initial raise.  I then left academics in 2017 to start my own concierge DPC, and was very successful, closing my practice to new patients in about five years.  Along the way I added multiple specialty oriented service lines including medical weight management, ketamine treatments for depression, functional medicine and even running clinical trials. Over the last several years, I have shared my expertise with other doctors in helping them set up their own direct primary care and specialty care practices.  (You can hear more about my journey on My DPC Story).
